TVDSB trustee resigns after 33 years of service

Exeter, Ont. –
After 33 years, Joyce Bennett, School Trustee for the Thames Valley District (TVDSB), resigned, effective immediately.
According to a statement sent by the council on Tuesday evening, Bennett was an elected administrator representing London’s wards 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13 and was first elected to the board of the former board of trustees of the City of London in November 1988.
“Joyce has demonstrated her commitment to the community through her extensive involvement in many groups and committees over the years and we are very grateful for all she has done to champion student success, well-being and l ‘equity in our schools,’ said board chair Lori. -Ann Pizzolato.
Bennett received the Dr. Harry Paiken Award of Merit from the Ontario Public School Boards Association and received the Steve Cordes Community Star Award.
“Joyce has been a valued member of the Board of Directors for many years. It is important that we recognize Joyce’s exceptional long-term commitment to ensuring that the needs of students in the TVDSB community become a priority, ”said Director of Education Mark Fisher.
The trustees will discuss replacement options to replace Trustee Bennett at the board meeting on October 26.
