The district education council is currently elected under a “general” electoral system, where trustees are elected by voters from across the district. Directors are elected in even years and serve staggered four-year terms. On February 26, 2019, the council adopted resolution n ° 19-15, a resolution approving the authorization to begin a transition to a system of election by zone by proxy as of the election of the board of directors of 2022. On April 27, the board has the opportunity to pass a resolution reaffirming its intention to move from general elections to director elections, with each board member to reside within the designated trustee zone and is elected only by the board members. voters of this fiduciary zone.
District Demographers, Cooperative Strategies, LLC, presented information on the process and criteria for developing fiduciary zone boundary maps. Now that the board and the community have received the informative presentation, the board will hold the first of two hearings required by law to receive community feedback on the process of creating the fiduciary zone map, in accordance with the Article 10010 (a) (1) of the Electoral Code. .
