Liverpool Transfer News – European Super League announcement, most recent Mohamed Salah
Full UEFA statement
In case you missed it earlier, there was a UEFA-led statement explaining how much they were against the idea of the Super League.
Here it is in full:
UEFA, the English Football Federation and the Premier League, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and LaLiga, as well as the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) and La Lega Serie A have learned that a few English, Spanish and Italians plan to announce their creation of a so-called closed Super League.
Should this happen, we would like to reiterate that we – UEFA, English FA, RFEF, FIGC, Premier League, LaLiga, Lega Serie A, but also FIFA and all our member associations – will remain united in our efforts. to stop this cynical project, a project based on the personal interest of a few clubs at a time when society needs solidarity more than ever.
We will examine all the measures at our disposal, at all levels, both judicial and sporting, to prevent this from happening. Football is based on open competition and sporting merit; It can not be otherwise.
As previously announced by FIFA and the six Federations, the clubs concerned will be prohibited from participating in any other competition at national, European or world level, and their players may be refused the opportunity to represent their national teams.
We thank clubs from other countries, especially French and German clubs, who refused to register. We call on all football fans, supporters and politicians to join us in fighting against such a project should it ever be announced. This lingering self-interest of a few has gone on for too long. Enough is enough.
