LEVY: Waterloo School Board muzzles lone black administrator

After downing the board’s only black trustee, Mike Ramsay, on June 6, the vindictive “woke” trustees of the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) let everyone know they really mean it Monday night.
The same six judgmental NDP administrators who found Ramsay guilty of a secret code of conduct complaint in what can only be described as a sham court voted 6-3 to uphold their decision.
The trustees – chairman Scott Piatkowski, Karen Meissner, Jayne Herring, Kathleen Woodcock, Carol Millar and Joanne Weston – also refused to back down from their decision to give Ramsay the maximum number of sanctions available to them.
This means Ramsay is banned from all board and committee meetings until the end of the current term.
Only Laurie Tremble did not vote because she was the one who complained about Ramsay.
To date, the board has refused to release the report of an expensive outside law firm or the board’s integrity commissioner who investigated Aspen’s complaints.
By comparison, when a similar complaint was filed against Toronto District School Trustee Alexandra Lulka, the board released details of the complaint and subsequent report before their meeting last December.
On Monday night, Piatkowski rudely interrupted and shut down administrator Cindy Watson when she tried to talk about her motion to revoke Ramsay’s sentence.
But the council chairman later allowed Herring, an NDP colleague and former director of the council’s business services, to explain how Ramsay had apparently breached the code of conduct.
Herring claimed that Ramsay disrespected the integrity and dignity of the office, refused to uphold board decisions (suggesting he disagreed with them), blamed his fellow directors of illegal conduct and had refused to be civil.
In a statement from Ramsay released ahead of the council meeting, he reiterated that everything was kept secret: the identity of the trustee who complained, the complaint itself, the Integrity Commissioner’s report and even the rationale secrecy of the council.
Ramsay described the process as “weaponizing the complaints process” to muzzle a trustee who doesn’t keep up with their waking pace.
“The complaint is prompted by a disagreement with my positions at board meetings and statements made to constituents,” he said in his statement.
The irony of it all is that the same NDP cabal that shamelessly voted to overrule Ramsay and repeatedly stressed the need for anti-racist education.
They are so determined to silence the opposition that they are not ashamed to use their elitist “white privilege” – as they call it – to muzzle a man of color.
The same goes for black activist education director Jeewan Chanicka who started crying during last week’s board meeting claiming that a motion to provide more information on the theory criticism of race and white privilege generated “so much hatred, so much racism” that the police had to be called multiple times.
Chanicka never indicated where the police had been called. He also hasn’t championed another man of color — likely because Ramsay doesn’t share his radical views.
I guess when it comes to this awakened cabal, only certain men of color are acceptable – in other words, men of color who don’t challenge their power and control.
Yet if they had nothing to hide or defend about their decision to reprimand Ramsay, they would release the Integrity Commissioner’s reports.
Otherwise, their actions are nothing less than a lynching.
