Mr. Editor:
I would like to tell those who live in the District of North Vancouver that there is a by-election on May 29, 2021 for the position of a North Vancouver school trustee.
It’s easy to be complacent with so much around us and with our health which is paramount, but at the same time, this is a crucial time to support public education as we move forward in a post-pandemic life. and that we reflect on what education will look like for students. , parents and staff.
As a community, we need to look to applicants who are informed and have strong leadership skills, who will work alongside the current school board to better represent and support public education in the future.
As a former Trustee and Past President of the North Vancouver School District School Board, I have continued to take a genuine interest in the work of our school board to provide students with the experiences and support they need. to pursue their talents and aspirations. because they move seamlessly through the school system.
As a former Trustee, I certainly had my views, values and points of view and I worked diligently in my leadership roles and responsibilities to be informed and knowledgeable on matters referred to the board for discussion and decision.
As we currently live in unprecedented times, during this last year of COVID, protocols have been put in place to create healthy and safe learning environments, however, in the absence of large group gatherings, it is difficult to organize face-to-face meetings with all applicants. this by-election.
We have learned that there are other ways and means to connect virtually or via social networks in order to be informed on current issues, events and elsewhere, why not your candidates in the by-election!
As a grandmother now, I will continue to have a vested interest in the future of public education in North Vancouver. I want to be assured that the elected officials who make decisions on behalf of students, parents and staff have the leadership skills, wisdom and knowledge to make informed decisions that are essential to provide opportunities for growth, knowledge and success in our school communities.

Check out their profiles, find their websites and search for them on social media.
