GOP elects Joy Zigler to replace the late Susan Cable as administrator of Pleasant Township

On Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department in Stillwell, a caucus of Republican City Committee members met to fill the vacant Pleasant Township administrator seat. Susan Cable, a long-time former administrator of Pleasant Township, passed away on June 4. u. Cable served as the Trustee of Pleasant Township for 26 years.
A packed house listened to seven candidate directors introduce themselves and present their programs.
In the first ballot, Joy Zigler, a resident of Pleasant Township, received the majority of the votes necessary to win. Immediately after caucus, Zigler was sworn in by La Porte County Clerk of Circuit Court Heather Stevens.
Zigler will fill the remainder of Cable’s tenure, which ends at the end of 2022.
La Porte County Republican Party Chairman Allen Stevens, who chaired the caucus, said, “Susan Cable was a real public servant. His 26 years of service to the people of Pleasant Township have left him with very big shoes to fill. On behalf of the La Porte County Republican Party, I would like to extend our congratulations and best wishes to Joy Zigler as she takes on her new role as administrator of Pleasant Township.
