Each township in Washington County has voted for the two directors they want to represent for the next four years.

Jedd Butler and Asa Boring have both served as directors for several years.

Butler has been a director of the Township of Independence for 10 years.

“I like what I do … maintain the roads and the cemeteries” said the butler. “It allows me to work every day. “

Boring has served Belpre Township since 1987. He said he served part of a term earlier because an administrator died.

“I ran again because we have several projects in progress and I would like to see a few completed” Boring said.

He said the old Little Hocking Elementary property and the new park on Baker Road are two projects he’s excited about.

“We want to install a community building there (at the old primary school)”, he said.

With the new park, they are partnering with OSU Extension and the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to plant trees and install birdhouses.

“We are trying to look to the future with the children now, when they are 40 or 50” Boring said.
