4 surprising areas where it’s making waves

It’s not hard to see that artificial intelligence (AI) is the future. There seems to be a never-ending stream of information about things like the latest humanoid robot test or cutting-edge AI elements in a new video game.

But there are many areas out of the limelight where AI also has an impact.

This unsung hero aspect of this new technology is not just out of sight and out of mind. In many cases, it also plays a vital role in areas such as the economy, business, and the future of life as we know it.

Here are some isolated places where artificial intelligence is making waves.

1. Marketing

From setting up email funnels to scheduling social media posts, automation has been a part of marketing for quite some time.

However, the application of artificial intelligence, i.e. allowing machine learning to make decisions without the need for explicit programming, is still relatively new.

Nonetheless, companies like MarketMuse are finding cost-effective ways for businesses to integrate AI into marketing procedures. In a recent webinar, the brand highlighted how AI is already impacting marketing.

This includes front-end applications, such as creating buyer personas and creating data-driven content.

It also involves back-end analysis, such as examining data to uncover insights that can inform future marketing decisions. While IT already looms large in marketing, smart technology takes marketing strategy to the next level.

2. Trucking

When AI comes up in conversation, it often has to do with self-driving cars.

From praise for their potential to concerns about safety, one way or another, consumer-focused cars are dominating the conversation about self-driving cars.

This focus on the end-user version of the product has kept the self-driving car concept in the “development” stage.

In most people’s minds, the commercial reality of a publicly available self-driving car is still years away. But there’s another area where self-driving technology is officially becoming a daily reality: trucking.

At the end of 2021, a fully autonomous truck traveled 80 minutes and 80 miles between Tucson and Phoenix. The vehicle’s AI system, which used TuSimple’s Autonomous Driving System (ADS) software, performed 100% of the driving. While this isn’t big news, it heralds a new era in the supply chain that is quietly making the world go round every day.

3. Customer service

Customer service is an area often negatively associated with AI. After all, most callers to a contact center don’t want to wade through predefined messages and cumbersome menus to resolve their issues.

However, equating the difficult automated systems of the past with the application of new artificial intelligence is not simply incorrect. It is misleading.

AI replaces predetermined messages with a system that can gather new information, process it, and decide what to do in each scenario.

Brands like Five9 aptly emphasize that AI applications in a contact center should be practical and productivity-focused. The company’s IVA (Intelligent Virtual Agent) and Agent Assist are two AI applications that provide targeted and efficient ways to meet customer needs, whether it’s connecting them to the best agent or solving a problem. through the software itself.

4. Farming

Agriculture is an occupation as old as civilization itself. Whatever tools or machines are used, agriculture has always been driven by one key element: human labour.

AI is officially starting to make that assumption obsolete.

Kathleen Walch, managing partner and principal analyst at AI-focused research and advisory firm Cognilytica, highlights the myriad ways AI is already revolutionizing the way farmers manage their crops. As in many other industries, it starts with analysis.

Agricultural data allows farmers to keep tabs on countless things, from weather to soil conditions, all in real time. They can also use AI to improve the quality and accuracy of harvesting. And, of course, AI robots are already working alongside human workers, providing a 24/7 workforce that helps fill persistent labor shortages.

The future and artificial intelligence

Artificial intelligence is not just another form of technology. It is the crossroads where technology and human innovation meet.

AI marks the ability of computers and software to assimilate previously unknown information. These machines can then analyze it and make a competent and correct decision based on that input.

This incredible advancement has more than entertainment value or personal application. He already has an active impact on the world behind the scenes in more ways than one.

In businesses, areas such as marketing and customer service are implementing AI to improve customer experience and increase their bottom line.

The supply chain is already beginning to deploy self-driving trucks. These vehicles can handle all of the driving part of moving goods and resources from point A to point B.

Even something as critical as agriculture already benefits from the ability to have a computer to collect and analyze data and then help make decisions. Oh, and their ability to pick the good weeds in a field helps too.

Although all these first steps are impressive, they are just that, first steps. The truth is that AI is still in its infancy. The large-scale application of AI technology will only grow from here. There’s no doubt he’ll continue to rewrite life as we know it – overtly or behind the scenes – as he does.
